WAP Entertainment Media came into existence in 1976 out of the foresight of a young man who trusted in God and his ability. When Wale Adenuga graduated from the Business Administration Department of the University of Lagos in 1974, he set his mind on affecting the lives of others through his natural artistic endowments.

In 1976, WAP Entertainment Media gave birth to some of the most popular and widely circulated magazines ever produced in Nigeria. These were Ikebe Super, Super Story and Binta. When they were published, these magazines sold more than half a million copies per edition. They were a success story.

But again for his foresight, the man behind the company recorded Nigeria’s first ever English Comedy Film; Papa Ajasco Gen Z Papi on celluloid in 1984 and Binta My Daughter on home video in 1995. In 1997 the Papa Ajasco comedy series came on television followed by Superstory in 2001. This resulted from his conviction that television would reach more Nigerians in the troubled economic period than magazines. His thought proved prophetic. Nigerians in all the states have continued to show appreciation for the programmes.

Another brainchild of Wale Adenuga is the renowned PEFTI Film Institute Limited established in 2004, to create opportunities for both green-horn aspirants and practitioners, to acquire proficient Professional training in the diverse disciplines of Film, Television and Music Production.

In 2012, WAP Entertainment Media launched wapTV Channel: a multiple award-winning family entertainment channel with exciting TV shows including; Kookoorookoo, D’beat Zone, Akpan and Oduma, and so many others.

This is why the organisation has become a household name in the country and other parts of the globe.
