PAPA AJASCO & COMPANY RELOADED This is a comedy programme which made its debut showing on AIT Network in 1997; and has become very popular with viewers. This programme which primarily centers on the Ajasco family is the classic comedy which points out the folly of people by making them laugh at themselves. Currently, NTA Network, STV Network, and wapTV air Papa Ajasco weekly, while it is on some cable stations and open-air television stations in many African countries. Nominated for Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award 2018, Papa Ajasco & Company has been declared the best entertainment programme in Nigeria at the annual NTA 2 Channels Awards in Lagos among other awards. The programme follows the thrilling stories of The BABINGTON Family members. In her quest to correct social ills and promote family values, Nnenna (of Nnenna & Friends fame) finds herself serving as a governess in their home. The whole setup becomes an unending emotional roller coaster both inside and outside the family. Debuted in 2019, this 30-Minute TV drama seeks to provide parents with tips on how to prepare their young ones for independence. This is a sitcom about two friends who have travelled from their village to Lagos in search of wealth. This sitcom details their everyday lives and the various situations they get into due to the culture – shock, their schemes, their naïveté as well as the occasional bad luck.
The VILLAGE HEADMASTER, a Nigerian television drama series was created and produced by NTA, the Nigerian Television Authority, Africa’s Largest Television Network. The programme was Nigeria’s longest-running television soap opera. It showed on NTA Network from 1968 to 1988, and is considered one of the early successes of television drama in the country. In 2020, WAP signed a Co-production and Codistribution Agreement with NTA over the revival of The Village Headmaster. The VILLAGE HEADMASTER is set in the fictitious Yoruba village of Oja; plot lines deal with the social-politico-economico-cultural milieu of Nigeria in general and the Yorubas in particular.
